Rishi Sunak is the first non-white Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. On 25 October 2022, after several years of working in finance and then as a Conservative Party member of Parliament and Chancellor of the Exchequer( 13 February 2020 to 5 July 2022), Sunak was appointed as the Prime Minister of the UK.
Sunak was born on 12 May 1980 in Southampton, Hampshire to Yashvir and Usha Sunak,
the Southeast African-born Hindu parents of Indian Punjabi descent. Yashvir Sunak was born and raised in Kenya and Usha Sunak was born in Tanzania. They migrated to Britain from East Africa in the1960s and met and married in Southern England. Sunak has 2 siblings and he is the eldest. Sunak’s father was a doctor and his mother ran her own pharmacy.
He was educated at the prestigious Winchester College, an expensive private school. He read philosophy, Politics and Economics- a popular choice among future Prime Ministers at Lincoln College, Oxford. While studying at University, he undertook an internship at Conservative Campaign Headquarters and joined the Conservative Party. In August 2009 Sunak married Akshata Murthy, the daughter of N.R. Narayana Murthy, the founder of the technology company Infosys in which she owns a stake. Sunak’s CAREER IN Finance and his wife’s stake in Infosys have made him extremely wealthy. Their combined fortune according to The Sunday Times is 730 million Euros.
They have two daughters Krishna and Anoushka. Sunak is a teetotaller. His is a cricket. Horse racing and tennis enthusiast.
Sunak is a former investment banker and hedge fund manager turned politician. He worked as an analyst for the investment bank Goldman Sachs between 2001 and 2004. He then worked for a hedge fund management firm, the Children’s Investment Fund Management, becoming a partner in 2006 and then he also worked for Theleme Partners. Sunak was also a director of the investment firm Catamaran Ventures, owned by his father-in-law, Narayan Murthy between 2013 and 2015.
