 Randeep Hooda is one of India's most successful actors. He was born on August 20, 1976, in Haryana, India. His father, His mother, Asha Devi Hooda, is a social worker, and Dr. Ranbir Hooda is a surgeon. Hooda has played in a number of theatre plays and made his debut as a playwright with an adaptation of Lee Blessing's A Walk in the Woods. He is also a professional equestrian who competes in polo, show jumping, and dressage. He took silver in an open dressage event conducted by the Equestrian Federation of India in New Delhi.

Randeep Hooda spent most of his youth in his hometown with his grandmother, while his parents travelled often and spent the majority of their time in the Middle East. Hooda made his cinematic debut as a non-resident Indian from Australia in Mira Nair's Monsoon Wedding (2001). Despite the film's critical and economic success, Hooda had to wait four years for a second project. He worked in theatre at this time and made money by appearing in commercials on television. Hooda was selected as the male protagonist in Ram Gopal Varma's gangster flick D in 2005.
