Narayana Murthy
Nagavara Ramarao Narayana Murthy is the co-founder of Infosys, a worldwide company that offers services in the areas of technology, engineering, consulting, and outsourcing. Narayana Murthy had to put in a lot of effort to succeed because he wasn't given a silver spoon at birth. He was born in Mysore, Karnataka, on August 20, 1946. He was raised in a low-income yet educated home.
Narayana Murthy excelled academically from a young age. He
had a deep enthusiasm for mathematics and physics and was constantly hungry for
additional information in these disciplines. As a result, he pursued a Bachelor
of Engineering in Electrical from the University of Mysore before earning a
Master of Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.
Success:
Although Narayana Murthy hailed from a low-income family, he had big goals. He had aspirations of launching his own company since he was a little boy. At IIM Ahmedabad, Narayana Murthy started out as a primary systems programmer. Then he founded Softronics, a business that collapsed after 1.5 years of operation.
Despite the early disappointments he experienced, he
persisted in wanting to start his own business. He decided to start over in
1981 after reflecting on his past errors. He contributed Rs 10,000 that year,
along with six other software specialists, to create Infosys. The team put the
needs of the business ahead of their own interests from the start.
Additionally, each team member contributed complementing talents to the
business. Together with Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, Narayana Murthy is
recognized as one of the greatest businessmen of all time today. He received
the Padma Shri award from the Indian government in 2000 in recognition of his
tremendous contributions to the IT industry and economy of that nation. He
received the Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian honor in India, in
2008.
When Narayana Murthy retired in 2011, the business
experienced turbulent times. Cost-cutting was obvious, and the company's
performance declined. Narayana Murthy was recalled from retirement on June 1 to
take over the corporation once more. Narayana Murthy, who will turn 67 this
year, has stepped up to the plate to try to revive the business. He now serves
as the company's Executive Chairman of the Board as well as an Additional
Director. Additionally, he is directly collaborating with the senior management
to develop incentives, such as paying top performers more to boost the success
of the business.
This is a wonderful example of dedication and commitment.
Narayana Murthy is prepared to forgo his comforts even after he retires in
order to save the business. Narayana Murthy did not let his family's financial
situation stop him from pursuing his goals.
