Ashneer Grover Resigns from BharatPe
Ashneer Grover filed an emergency arbitration request with the SIAC, but the Singapore International Arbitration Centre dismissed it. He succeeded in convincing everyone that the board's investigation was unethical. Grover also wanted a buyout of his shares before leaving the business, but the BharatPe investors refused.
Grover received the company's board meeting agenda on February 28, 2022, which would also contain the PWC report on Grover's behavior. The measures taken against him will be considered, and Ashneer Grover resigned the same day, according to the BharatPe Board. Grover resigned with immediate effect on February 28. Still, he said he would remain the company's single most significant stakeholder, claiming that he and his family had been "vilified" and compelled to retire.
Let's learn about Ashneer Grover's view to see the world and get inspired by them:
1. The only thing lavish about me is my dreams and ability to achieve them against all odds through hard work and enterprise.
2. I have seen this problem in some of the prominent founders in India. It’s called the God Syndrome.
3. What happens is that whatever they (founders) want should happen — and it does (happen) many times. But when it doesn’t, it comes out as extreme anger and frustration.
4. I didn’t invest largely because it (funding craze) had already gotten to his head. And this wasn’t even the bull market of 2021. Many other partners had a similar experience.
5. Many times we felt forced into doing things even when we knew it was not the best possible solution.
6. In the US, when you move to the outskirts of a big city, you will find everything at a lower rate and the most expensive if you live in the heart of the city. In India, the concept of MRP for every product is a big hurdle as it is across the country.
7. I’m not here to please anyone. Dhandha karne aaya hun (I’m here to grow my business).
8. Not going to be a slave to investors again in my life.
9. I will not disclose (my next move). Will lead life on my own terms.
10. I am very clear, I will be a private person.
11. I am now looking up to people who have the courage to build businesses with 100% ownership.
12. Businesses with 100% ownership will take a bit longer to build, I will be in control of what I build and not build it for these people who are opportunistic.
13. Why should I tell plans, for now, it's my life. I am not playing a role here in the public drama.
14. I am Ashneer Grover. I am a builder. I will do whatever I need to build things. I am not answerable to anyone.
15. I don't need a buyer. Do you think I am dependent on my holding in BharatPe to live? Today also if I say I am starting something, I can raise Rs 1,000 crore from the public.
16. Thankfully God has given me my mind and I have enough courage to take decisions on my own.
17. I have a message for all the founders in the country – don’t be a slave to these VCs.They act like the East India Company and make everyone a slave.
18. I implore all founders – you all are fighting lonely battles.
19. Do you think I listen to anyone’s advice? I work on my own terms.
20. When I start talking, people will not be allowed to do business in India.
21. I built the company from scratch, and I am in pain.
