Hardly anyone is unfamiliar with Ramchandra Pandurang Rao Yolekar alias Tatya Tope, one of the leading heroes of India's first freedom struggle against the British East India Company. Through his valor and strategy, this general played his name in the country but also abroad.
He was so skilled in military campaigns that friends and enemies also tried to see and understand his campaigns with curiosity and curiosity.
Life of Tatya tope:
Born in 1814 in Yole (or Yavale/Yule/Yavala) village of Nashik in Maharashtra, Tatya Tope was the only child of his parents Mrs. Rukmini Bai and Pandurang Anna.
Tatya Tope's real name was Ramchandra Pandurang Yevlekar. According to the facts, it is known that Tatya was born around 1813 or 1814. His father was a patriot as well as a great scholar. His scholarship was compatible with his caste. It is believed that Tatya's family had come to Bithoor along with Nana Saheb Peshwa in 1818.
An ambitious young man:
Tatya Tope was a very ambitious and far-sighted young man by behavior. He spent most of his years in the company of Bajirao's three adopted sons – Nana Saheb, Balasaheb, and Baba Bhatt, whose effect on his image can be seen.
He used to study the quality of war very closely from childhood. He used to show great interest in listening to the stories of many masters since childhood.
A great commander:
It is believed that with the arrest of the Mughal emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar about a year before Tatya Tope was hanged, the direct fighting between the rebels and the British forces of 1857 ended, but even after that Tatya Tope's world-famous guerrilla policy It troubled the British a lot. Due to this policy, he continued the struggle with the enemy for a long time. For nine consecutive months, he stunned half a dozen British commanders who were trying to capture him.
In the battle of 1857, Tatya Tope was very famous for his bold actions and victory campaigns, but still, he got less fame than Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi.
Where the war campaigns of Rani Lakshmibai were confined only to the areas of Jhansi, Kalpi, and Gwalior, Tatya spread like a vast kingdom to the Rajputana of Kanpur and Central India. Still, he did not get the fame that Rani Laxmibai got.
Known for his organizational ability, this warrior was hanged on 18 April in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh. Even today people remember his guerrilla warfare system.
