Dr. Cyrus Poonawalla – the Chairman of the esteemed Poonawalla Group was born in 1941, Pune. His son Adar Poonawalla is Executive Director at the Serum Institute of India.

In 1964, the father of Dr. Cyrus established the farm of horses. On the other hand, Dr. Cyrus did his schooling at Bishop's School, Pune, and completed his college studies at Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce.
After completing his studies he thought about increasing his stud form. He knew that the time to come would be more hours of racing than car racing.
He tried to make a modified Jaguar with his friend for $120 but he failed. Later, he thought that he would solve the problems of the people. Thinking this, he started making the vaccine from the horse's serum.
This vaccine was made earlier also but it was expensive.
This serum was made by the Haffkine Institute but in 1966, Cyrus Poonawalla founded the Serum Institute of India to help more people.
He hired 10 doctors and scientists from Haffkine Institute. He made Antiserum after 2 years. From where his luck shone.
After some time he got a contract to supply to the government hospital also.
With this, Sirs Poonawalla has saved the lives of many crores of people, for this, he has also received the Padma Shri award in 2005.
Today, Cyrus Poonawalla has established his company all over the country by selling 1.3 billion doses. The company of Cyrus makes many life-saving vaccines, which are exported to 140 countries.
