Lakshmi Narayan Mittal, Chairman and CEO of ArcelorMittal was born on July 15,1950 in the Marwadi Family. He studied from Calcutta at Shri Daulatram Nopany Vidyalaya (1957 to 1964). He graduated from University of Calcutta at St. Xavier’s College with B.com Degree. His father (Mohanlal Mittal) used to do steel business.
In 1976, due to the restriction on steel production by the Indian Government. 26 years old boy, Lakshmi Narayan opened a steel factory in Indonesia eventually merging with French steelmaker Arcelor in 2006 to form ArcelorMittal worth more than $100 billion.
Lakshmi Mittal has 2 brothers and a sister. Today, Mittal Family Business near Mumbai is run by his two brothers named Pramod Mittal and Vinod Mittal but Lakshmi Mittal has no connection with it.
Lakshmi Mittal was awarded the Padma Vibhushan by the Government of India in 2008. Mittal ran his own steel mill successfully, after which he started working with government mills, global industries such as iron, coal and car manufacturers because at that time small steel companies were not able to make ambitious deals with large companies.

In 2004, Ispat International and LNM Holding both companies were merged by Lakshmi Mittal. After that he acquired the International Steel Group in Ohio, world's largest steel maker Lakshmi Mittal creating the new TMittal Steel Company N.V.
Mittal bought the Karmet Steel works from Temirtau, Kazakhstan, for $400 million. At that time the former Soviet republic was in financial loss and it was about to be exhausted. This raised him to the heights in the world of steel industry.
